Everything you need to know before joining us on a Sunday morning.
01 I'm new to church. Am I welcome?
Absolutely. Whether you have followed Jesus for years, are returning to church, are exploring Christianity, or are attending for the first time, you are welcome. Questions are welcome too.
02 What kind of church is this?
We are an independent, evangelical Christian church, not a part of the state church, centered on the Bible and the gospel of Jesus Christ. As Baptists, we practice believers baptism, baptizing those who personally profess faith in Jesus, rather than baptizing infants.
04 When and where do we meet?
We meet every Sunday at 11:00 at Fagraþing 2A, 203 Kópavogur. No registration is needed. Services are in English, with live transcription in multiple languages and live Spanish audio translation.
03 What should I expect?
Our gathering includes singing, prayer, Scripture reading, preaching, and fellowship. The service is simple and there is no dress code or expectation that visitors already know what to do.
05 What about my kids?
Children are always welcome in the gathering. We provide a nursery for infants through age four, with a parent or guardian remaining with the child, and a children's class for approximately ages four through ten.
06 Why are the services in English?
Loftstofan includes Icelanders and people from many nations. English is the common language shared by most of our congregation, allowing us to worship and learn together.
07 What happens after the service?
We share a free meal after the service, and visitors are warmly encouraged to stay. There is no cost or registration.
08 Is church just for Sundays?
No. Throughout the week we gather in smaller settings for Bible study, prayer, fellowship, service, and discipleship. See our Ministries page for current opportunities.
