We believe church leadership is fundamentally an act of service.

Loftstofan is led by a plurality of elders who are entrusted with the spiritual oversight, teaching, and shepherding of the church.

They serve alongside deacons and deaconesses who lead and care for particular areas of ministry and help equip the church to serve one another faithfully.

Gunnar Ingi Gunnarsson
About Gunnar

Gunnar lives in Mosfellsbær with his wife Svava, and their four children: Mikael, Sigurrós, Salómon, and Víktoria.

Gunnar went to Huntsville Masters Commission, a Bible training program in Huntsville, Alabama, for three years and graduated at age 19, before attending the Icelandic Film School, which he graduated from at age 21.

Gunnar has been preaching and teaching on and off since the age of 17. Shortly after he and Svava married, they restarted a youth ministry together before eventually leaving their former church to plant Loftstofan Baptistakirkja.

Gunnar is passionate about seeing God glorified through church planting and seeing people grow in their love for Jesus and serve Him well.

Dale Kellar
About Dale

Dale lives in Reykjavík with his wife Linnea and their four children: Cedar, Zion, Avonlea, and Isla. He was born and raised in the metro Detroit area of Michigan in the United States, and the Kellars have lived in Iceland since April 2024.

Dale completed a degree in Biblical studies and intercultural ministry and holds a Master of Theological Studies in Pastoral Theology from Reformed Baptist Seminary.

He previously served on the ministry staff at two churches in Michigan before the Lord led their family to Loftstofan.

Dale delights to see the kingdom of Christ expand through the salvation of sinners, the discipleship of believers, and the planting and strengthening of healthy local churches.

Our deacons and deaconesses serve the practical needs of the church and provide leadership in specific areas of ministry.

Jóhanna Helgadóttir
About Jóhanna

Jóhanna was born in Iceland but grew up in Sweden in a Christian home. After moving back to Iceland, God opened her eyes and saved her as a teenager.

She has always loved working with children and served in Sunday schools in different Christian communities.

Jóhanna joined Loftstofan when her old church became a part of Loftstofan years ago and eventually started overseeing the children’s ministry there.

She is also leading the ladies Bible study group.

Linnea grew up in the metro Detroit area in the US and now lives in Iceland with her husband and four children. Her background is in healthcare and she is passionate about stewarding her gifts and experiences to serve others.

About Svava

Svava is originally from Costa Rica and was adopted by an Icelandic family when she was 5 months old.

She is married to an exceptionally handsome man (Gunnar Ingi) and they have four kids together.

Svava knows that the Lord’s calling on her life from a young age was to build up His church through music and she currently leads the worship team at Loftstofan Baptistakirkja.

Their calling is to shepherd, serve, teach, and equip God's people so that the whole body grows together in maturity and carries out the work Christ has given His church.
