Discover the Bible together in community to know God more through his word, apply the Scriptures to your life, and hold each other accountable.

Discovery Bible Study

What is Discovery Bible Study? It is simply put a way to create a tighter community that studies God’s word and holds each other accountable to live in light of it.

It may seem simple, but that’s the point, we want you to know that anyone can start this type of Bible study, and we ask you to start this sort of Bible study so that you can grow in your love and commitment to Christ, grow in to know your family of faith more and be equipped and challenged to go and tell others about Jesus.

This can take place anywhere and doesn’t require one leader, if you have questions about the Word that seems hard to figure out, you can always ask others in the church or the pastors (Gunnar and Elliot), may God bless you as you seek to grow in your faith!

To start you simply need to choose which book of the Bible you will read through and ask the following questions about each chapter or paragraph you work your way through, below the Bible study questions you can also find a sample of questions to ask if you seek to hold each other accountable, it is a long list, but you can choose 2-3 questions that you feel are good to ask and then ask other questions the following week, we recommend that the accountability questions be asked in Gender specific groups, that is men with men and women with women.

Discovery Bible Study questions

  • What questions or thoughts pop up when you read through the text?

  • What does this passage teach me about God?

  • What does this passage teach me about mankind?

  • What beliefs, practices, life patterns or thoughts are you challenged to change in light of God’s truth?

  • What are you going to commit to do this following week, and who do you need to share this with?

Sometimes asking people to retell the passage in their own words is a very interesting exercise to do, as it makes obvious what stands out to that person about the text, but also what is easily missed due to personality or cultural traits and values.
